7 car games with no supplies

Try these spoken or looking games with passengers. The driver does not play while driving. Each game has a simple ending so it can stay a small part of the journey.

1. Three clues, one thing

Choose a familiar object. Give three clues without saying its name. The other passenger gets one guess, then you reveal it and swap. Example: “I fit on a foot. I can have laces. I help you walk outside.” The answer is shoe. Take three turns each; correct guesses are shared points, up to six.

2. Pair patrol

Choose a feature such as round or tall. Find two different things that share it, using only what is easy to see from your passenger seat. Take turns choosing a feature. Stop after four pairs, or earlier if the view offers little. There is no need to repeat the same object.

3. The imaginary shop

Invent a shop that sells unusual things. One passenger is the shopkeeper and another is a customer. The customer asks about three items; the shopkeeper invents what they do and what they cost. Swap roles after those three items. A solo player can imagine both sides.

4. A new word

Invent a word for an ordinary object or an imaginary one. Say what it means and use it in a sentence. Each passenger gets one turn. Play another round only if everyone wants to. There is no winner and no spelling test.

5. Mystery parcel

Imagine an object inside a parcel. Give three clues about its shape, use or size. Let another passenger guess once, then reveal it. The object can be invented, but say so before giving clues. Play two rounds each.

6. Friendly tour guide

Choose an imaginary place and welcome visitors in two sentences. Another passenger can ask one question about the place. Then swap. A tree-top library or a museum of lost socks can get the game started. End after everyone has had a turn.

7. A souvenir nobody can buy

Invent an impossible souvenir: a pocket-sized echo, a cloud button or something else. Explain how you would carry it home. Give each passenger one turn. Solo players can choose two souvenirs and decide which they would keep.
